Thirty-two wired and wireless cameras for Ottawa Walk-in Animal Hospital — an isolated camera network with no visible power cables and room to keep expanding.
The challenge
The animal hospital required a large-scale surveillance system, but the project came with several constraints. The client continued to add cameras during the installation, while the provided IP cameras did not support PoE and required separate power. Since the building was already finished, the client did not want visible power cables, and there was not enough time for new in-wall cabling.
Our approach
We deployed 32 wired and wireless security cameras and developed a solution that allowed both power and data to be delivered without running visible power cables. Using specialized network components, we separated power from the Cat6 infrastructure and delivered it to the cameras independently. We also created a dedicated camera network, completely separated from the hospital's main business network, improving security, reducing unnecessary traffic, and providing a more reliable environment for the surveillance system.

A fast, discreet, and scalable surveillance deployment that met the client's changing requirements without disrupting the finished building. The dedicated camera network provides reliable surveillance while keeping the hospital's primary network isolated and secure.
